Business opportunity, or complete failure?

I earned the right to obtain my commercial drivers lisence in the summer of 2006. My mom and step dad have a trucking company. currently i work for them...They have every intention of moving out to colorado in 3-4 years...presumably wanting to take the company with them, leaving me with out a job. I had mentioned the fact that i want to inherit the company when they move. Im 20, by then ill be 24 or 25 give or take when they move. I know my way around the industry. but still have lots of learning to do. my knowledge has grown exponentially about the industry since working for them. you think ill be ok, or do you think ill get set up for unbelieveable failure?

i should also inform you....im doing billing, and i am also booking loads. stuff like that. truckers are very intelligent people, some people have "blinders" as to thinking truckers are few toothed and dumb founded when it comes to reading a book. if anyone, besides a trucker, were in a truckers position, you prolly wouldnt know what to do. stay classy!

Your going to have to prove to them that you can handle the responsibility. They may even consider you running a portion of the business from your home while they move out of state, expanding the business if you will.

Well you had a great attitude ! Take a shot, your still young.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Good Luck

Go back to school and get a degree, and maybe a MBA. As trucker you capping you earning potential. While they are around, take additional course to give you more opportunities.

Here is an article that you may want to read!

Cheers and Good luck!
