Why doesn't Steve Jobs give the people what they want?

This kid from New Jersey figured out a way to unlock the iPhone so it can be used on other carriers and overseas.

Jobs is notorious for trying to control people. You have to send the iPhone and iPod in to the company to get its battery changed. Apple products are designed more for style than functionality. Everything has to be perfect for him to release something. Bill Gates got rich off of his stupidity. What do you guys think?

Jobs probably had no choice but to tie the iPhone to the AT&T network. That was probably a requirement from AT&T in order for them to let the iPhone work on their network.

As far as the battery, I agree. The ipod should be designed to allow easy replacement of the battery. There are some kits you can get online where it's a lot cheaper. But still not convenient.

Bill Gates is far from stupid. He is a ruthless business man and created his monopoly by bullying, intimidation, and obfuscation. His software may suck, but his ability to control the marketplace required a genius.

Steve Jobs is getting rich of all your stupidity as well. AT&T is the worst carrier, a 400-page phone bill is moronic, and using the GSM is idiotic. $2000 phone bill for one guy who tested the phone by sending data and doing "normal" things with the phone.

The iPhone is an iFraud.

Steve Jobs is a man with a vision. And he wants everyone to share that vision with him. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to care whether anyone wants to or not...

Well if you really think about it. He is just being smart and he knows how to make money. He is the one that created Apple and he is going to decide to run it how he wants to, but can you blame him. His products are created with the intent that if you need to fix it or replace battery, you would have to go through the Apple Corp. to do so. And this is a smart move by Jobs because the company makes more money this way. Think about it if they did not implement the installed rechargeable battery in the ipod, guess who would be making business, Duracell, Energizer to name a few. Apple brand is really making a name for itself as consumer friendly. And one of Job's motto's is not to be like everyone else, but be unique.

So I think Jobs is giving the people what they want, he knows the competition and always tries to be better.
