Hillary Is Claiming She Can Fix The Economy, Yet Jobs Are Leaving New York State En Masse. Is She Lying?

Hillary is running a campaign based upon a "better economy" if she is elected. I am from New York. This state has lost more good paying jobs since she has been senator than in any other time in this states history. In fact, as I write at this moment, the Syracuse, New York branch of Chrysler Corp. also know as New Venture Gear is threatening to close up shop (3,000+ high paying manufacturing jobs) unless the workers take a major pay cut. Hillary has done nothing to alleviate this problem...so is she just lying?

I don't think she's lying just incompetent. I live in upstate NY and she has failed to live up to any promise she has made to the region. We are bleeding jobs and people..

yes, she is lying. she has China in her back pocket- she has more to gain to lose jobs here and ship them to Chin than to fight and keep them here. also, she is so anti-big business she would make the taxes awful for small, med and large companies. unemployment would be out of this world so would inflation

Well a US Senators job isnt to bring jobs to the state, that is the governors job and the state legislatures job. Having said that, she cant help because her policies will drive more businesses away do to more regulations and more taxation. Us poor folk at the bottom could always use more money but giving us a couple hundred extra isnt going to help the economy. Lower the corporate tax rates (among highest in world) and do other things to foster a friendly business environment so they stop closing down or moving overseas. I would rather have more job opportunities for positions that pay well than a free $200 check at the end of the year.

Any President who claims they can fix the economy is lying. The President has no power over the economy. Congress has some, the Federal Reserve Board has the most direct control, but ultimately WE THE PEOPLE decide how the economy is going to go. Recently we have decided it is going to go to China.

She's the junior Senator for your state, yes? What's Schumer doing?

You cannot protect jobs. If you try, it won't work. If you could succeed, you would only prevent future growth in the economy.

First of all, where do you get your figures that NY has lost more good paying jobs than at any other time in our history? Considering the history of upstate and western NY, I seriously doubt your contention. In any case, it hardly matters, as those are issues that are the responsibility of the state, not federal government. Or would you prefer Hillary be one of those senators that does nothing but channel pork back to their constituents?

A federal senator has little influence local issues.

The companies have no incentives to stay.
The dollar is weakening.
The economy is doing so swell.
This isn't something a Senator can do.
She has to do it from the top up, as the President of the United States.

Bush really messed up the economy.
But cutting taxes where it didn't belong and going to war.
And companies need to stay in America but you have to make it more attractive for them to stay.
When the RMB is so cheap and China is not willing to change it's currency plan.

Hillary isn't single handedly going to be able to reverse the high taxes in NY, that's courtesy of the previous gov, Pataki.
Michigan in fact the whole manufacturing sector has taken a hit. Remember Pittsburgh? Its looked like a ghost town for years, Detroit, once known for cars and well paid workers, now gets burned and rioted in for no good reason.
Hillary can't alleviate a national tax cut for out of country products, or sweetheart deals on imports.
Shes promising a better economy, maybe its a simple as one based on solid ground instead of air, truth instead of changing the way its calculated, or a more equitable tax system. One in which the middle class for a change, gets a break. Shes not promising barrels of money for you to roll in.

She hasn't done a thing for NY, but most of NY's problems are at the state level.

Unfortuunately, the actions of corporations around the country are not because of the local gov'ts, but rather the federal gov't who has enacted laws that make it easier for these corps to outsource jobs. The problem lies in the highest echalon of the gov't, the president. When Hillary is president, you watch and see all those jobs getting back to not only NY but to states nationwide.

All politicians lie. They lie, cheat and steal. Everyone of them.
They have to lie. Nobody can get in office and just fix the economy. It will take 3 or4 terms of presidents all staying on the same track to fix the mess we are in. We are in for some bad times. Save your money and if you have to spend it, spend wisely. So yes, she is lying, so is McCain, Obama.......
