2 part time jobs earning less than 拢100 p/w gross. Why do i pay tax at BR on the second? |
I have 2 part time jobs. The combined gross pay is less than the 拢100 weekly threshold. My employer on the second job (which i have only just started) says as it is a second job he has to give me a tax code of BR (as it states on the P46). Is this correct? Do i have to pay this then claim it back at the end of the tax year? Any help would be appriciated. You need to contact HMRC - via the helpline or the local tax enquiry centre. Tell them which 2 employers you work for and how much you earn at each. They will divide your tax free alloance between the two jobs so that you dont pay any tax. basic rate and emergency tax are the same thing so he told you the wrong thing did he not I should know I have the same tax inspector as KEN DODD Report It you pay secondary tax on any second job you have. it's not a financially wise option to work two part time jobs better to have one full time. I had a tax problem 5 yrs ago, i wrote to the Inland Revenue rgarding backdated tax, it took 2 yrs to solve but I eventually got 拢1,235 tax rebate. YOU DONT HAVE A PROBLEM NOBODY PAYS TAX ON LESS THAN THE THRESHOLD which is at this moment 拢109 a week as both jobs dont reach this figure you will not be required to pay tax.tell the tax office to inform our second employer you are not liable for tax BR is also the emergency tax rate. my partner has just been taxed this rate despite handing in his P45 twice and both getting lost in the system. he has overpaid by 拢400 for just 2 months wages. its a lot of money when you've got 3 kids and its someone elses stupid mistake!!the thing that really irritates me is if we owed them money they would be straight on our case and they would've sorted it ASAP. |
