How far in advance is too far in advance when applying for a job? |
I'm moving to a new city in a month; and I'm currently looking for a job for when I arrive there. A month is not that long and, assuming that it would probably take at least that long to get feedback on your resume and a possible interview. A month doesn't sound too far off, I'd start looking now if I were you. too far in advance is applying for a job before a vacancie has arisen. No, it's not too far in advance. You have to account for the time it takes for the employer to review your application, call applicants, interview, etc. That takes a long time. I would apply as soon as possible. You could explain on a cover letter that you are moving to the area in a month. I do not know how far you are moving, and if you would be available for a possible interview before the actual move. Now it's time to send your applications on line, one month before is a good time. But don't forget if someone calls you for an interview you must be available. If it happens before you have moved, you'll have to travel and be there if you really want the job. I would send them now, so you can make you choice with plenty of time to decide. |
