British Nurse going to work in the US (Texas)?

I'm a student nurse not due to qualify until 2010. but my husband has been given the opportunity to move out to America with work. They've also said that they're willing to wait until 2010. I was just wondering how easy it is to find nursing jobs in Texas, and what additional qualifications I would need to work over there. Anyone ever moved out there? Not even as a nurse such advice in general, costs of living, house prices, general income, communities, things like that!

I answered a question you posted in another section and suggested you ask about the specific city or area where you expect to live. Cost of living, etc. varies (not all of Texas is the same).

There is a shortage of skilled medical personnel all across the US, particularly RNs and MDs. For example, see http://www.aureusmedical.com/html/state_...

The Texas Board of Nursing Examiners certifies nurses. Their website is: http://www.bne.state.tx.us/

You need to review the requirements and consider if you want to complete your nursing studies in the UK or the USA.

The website for info on nursing schools in Texas is: http://www.texasnurses.org/careerinfo/sc...

Getting a job in the USA with a Texas RN diploma will be MUCH easier than completing your studies in the UK and then getting additionally licensed in the USA.

If your husband has a job offer with a flexible starting date
you can decide what is better for you.

Good luck!

if you are not qualified, your up to date references and qualifications to date,ie college where you work all helps, you will most certainly be granted education in your field

Have a look through the Nursing Times publication or if you knew a nurse who is a member of RCN receiving RCN publication, there's a lot of job offer for US. And I heard there is a lot of job interview, presentation in leading hotel, convention centre in London and main city throughout UK. So, they've got a lot of advice to offer you and opportunities and overview of specific state in US. Good luck.
