Do you agree that Nurse profession is just a second fiddle job and a doctor's helper?

I am a nurse and I am proud of it. It is a noble profession and it involves taking care of sick people 24/7 who maybe related or not related to us. But other people take nurse as just a second fiddle job and a doctor's halper. What is your opinion about it?

Without nurses, millions more patients would die. Get serious.

Nursing is a very noble profession. Many friends (some male) are nurses, my sister's been a nurse for over 30 years, a friend's sister has been a nurse for 40 years, and they are all loving, self-less people. People go into nursing because they feel the calling to help other, to be of service to others. That is THE most noble thing one human being can do for another.

I've been told stories that nurses have corrected doctors on procedures many times in their lives, because they know what's going on in operating rooms and birthing rooms. Just because they don't have a sheepskin from a place saying "doctor" doesn't mean they aren't educated and don't know what they are doing--eveno around someone who is piled High and Deep (pHD).

Yes, be VERY proud of what you and other like you do. It is a HUGE contribution, even if you don't get the recognition you deserve. But, then again, that's not really why you got into the profession to begin with, is it?

NO!! I'm not a nurse but I know by going into the doctors and having a nursing friends that they do just as much! Half the time it seems to me that the nurse has to do all the dirty work and the doctor just waltzes in and signs a prescription. The nurses are the friendly ones who make people feel better and do the taking care of. Good on ya, to all those nurses.

I have an older brother that is an E.M.T. for about 12 yrs. his wife is an RN. for 31 yrs.she is a head nurse at a Hospital. A younger brother that is a RN. for 35 yrs. he works for the Poison Control Center his wife is an RN. she works for the Prison System.I don't think any nurse is a second fiddle to any Doctor. Without the Nurses the Doctors are NOTHING.PAPER PUSHERS.At one VA Hospital here in Texas the Doctor can't do anything without it going through the nurses first.
