Registered Nurse?

How hard is it to become a RN? I'm about to graduate college with two degree's, but I don't know what the heck I want to do with them once schools done with? How long does it take to become a registered nurse? I'm interested in pediatric's. Is there a certain title for nurses who work in pediatric's other than a pediatric nurse? I'm not much into needles, but I heard there are a lot of other jobs out there that nurses can do that don't necessarily require having to draw blood all the time. Thanks for responding!

It's very hard to become an RN in less than 3 years, but I guess it can be done. Most programs require you to have a lot of prerequisites such as chemistry, statistics, anatomyand physiology, and sometimes an ethics class or even precalculus. If you want to do it you had better get used to needles because you will have to learn venipuncture, how to start an IV, and many other procedures.

There are 2 year programs out there. You will be an RN when you get out of them but you will only have an associate's, not a bachelor's. With most 2 year programs, in my experience, by the time you get all their prerequisites done, you end up spending 3 years... might as well go the distance and get a real degree with the prestige and pay that goes along with it.

I'm in my third year of a BSN (4 year program)and love it! Source(s): personal experience...
To become an RN takes 2 years,or 4 years to become a BSN.It is a very rewarding career.
it takes about 2 years minimum, and for the training, you will see blood and be using a lot of needles.
To be an RN, you first need a B.S. in Nursing. Then you have to apply to the state board of nursing, hence the "registered" part of RN.
my mother is an RN
You don't have to have a B.S. in Nursing to be an R.N. as stated above. You need to enroll into a nursing school recognized by the state you live in and then pass the NCLEX to become a registered nurse.
