What is it like to be a nurse? |
I am thinking about doing a degree in nursing and wanted to know what nurses think of their jobs. Also i am from the UK, so which are the best universities to study for a nursing degree? I practiced nursing for 15 years then had kids and have not gone back. It is very demanding, but very rewarding and the pay is decent. You will always have a job and never have to worry about job security. By all means get a degree in nursing then you will have so many opportunities. Nursing is very stressful. I have heard the average burnout is around 5 years in the profession. I made it 13 years, but 8 of those were home health. If you are a high energy person, it might be good for you. The good things about nursing is that you can go into so many different aspects of it. You can be an office nurse, a home health, clinics, legal nursing, etc., etc, etc. You can also continue your education and do alot with a nursing degree. I wouldn't take anything for my nursing KNOWLEDGE because any nurse that's been in the field for long knows it is very important to know how to take care of your own family since the nurses really don't have time to do it well. The whole medical profession is in trouble. |
