Is it easy to become a registered nurse?

If I get a degree in nursing and get the rn certification, is it easy to get a job afterwords. What if you don't have a lot of nursing experience, except from the nursing program itself, is it then hard to get a job as a registered nurse? I heard there is supposed to be a shortage of rn's in the years to come with the baby boomers aging.

You need to complete an associate degree in nursing to be eligible to sit for the state boards for the RN. This is not an easy program and you need a good high school GPA and certain science courses to be admitted to the program.

Nurses are in short supply right now and the shortage is expected to grow. You learn a lot on the job but you should be able to get a job without any previous experience outside of your college labs.
Nursing school gets you prepared to become a nurse. Sometimes it's good to first become a CNA first, that way you can see if this is really for you. It is not easy at all to become a nurse. Even though there is a nursing shortage out there, it is VERY competitive to get into nursing school. My best friend is an RN and she was rejected from nursing school the first time she applied and the second time she got in. You have to be very sure that this what you want to do. Nursing is a good profession but has alot of stress and u can't make any mistakes. So I would really think long and hard about it. Ask some nurses about their jobs, research on the internet. I was actually going to get a second degree in nursing, but it was very difficult for me.
If u decide to go this route, one thing is that the career opportunities are endless, you can be a travel nurse, work in maternity, emergency care, intensive care, clinical research, or a nurse educator...explore and then make your decision.
The schooling is hard.. you will always find a job as a RN.. this is not a career that you get in for the money..every nurse i have worked with did not like there jobs..they work long hours, weekends, holidays, you are in hazardous working conditions with diseases and other things. Make sure you want to deal with sick and dying people. Do not do it just for the money or you will not be happy.. I got into nursing for the money and because I wanted to help people.. guess what.. I am in school now to become a Physical Therapy Assistant they help people in a more rewarding way...with out all the blood and stress plus PTA's make more than a LPN not to much less than a RN. Physical Therapist make more than RN's...trust me think about what you really want from a career nursing is VERY stressful. I appreciate nursing but it isnt for everyone to have as a career.
