If I have a felony sex conviction, could I ever become a nurse?

I was 18 at the time and the girl was 13. They charged me with child molestation although the girl was sexually mature and could have passed for 15. Before this thing happened, I was getting my life together and was accepted into the nursing program. But due to the circumstances, I declined the acceptance into the nursing program. I know that nursing is my passion and want to know if I'll ever be able to return to this field.
I know that sex crimes are quite political at the moment. I do have quite a bit of knowledge of whether or not I could get a nursing degree and get a job, but I don't have anything solid. My feeling is that I can't do it at this time, yet, but I want to remain hopeful.

That's one thing hate about watchdog sites that track predators--you were just 18. While having sex with a 13 year is disgusting, you were 18.

Chances are you won't be able to be a nurse. With your background it will be hard to do ANYTHING that has to do with children.

Even if you got into a nursing program, no one would hire you.

I can't imagine anyone would care that she could pass for 15... I don't, sounds like an excuse. Accept what has happened to you, sex crimes follow people to the end of their days. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, and that you hate my guts now.
Well based upon what you said (she was sexually mature) I would say you have failed to understand the entire situation. Beyond that, I would be asking in the private sector, nurse to a private person.
I would say that a felony sex conviction would cause few problems for you. Just look at all those who have gotten by with nothing more than a pinch, and so many without even that. I wouldn't worry, child molestation is hardly noteworthy in our judicial system. I don't even think it's considered a crime.
Probably not. Whenever I have applied for a hospital position they ask about felonies/sex crimes.
