What courses do you have to take in high school to become a nurse practisioner?

- when u get to university what courses should you take?
- Is it a good job? decent or "nasty" (having to deal with people going to washroom and things like that)
- is it a well paying job?
- how many years do you have to be in school before you can become a nurse practisoiner?

... i am really confused of what i should do. At the moment, this job looks good, but i dont know everything about the job that well .. i'm hoping some one with experience can answer these questions .. PLEASE .. and thankyou

... i would also want to know if there are any jobs that are in the health field that pays alot and you dot have to go to that much years of uni.. .. that would be a miracle .. =) .. thanks agaaain

a nurse practioner is practically the highest you can move up while still being a nurse and not being a doctor. they have basically all the same responsibilities as doctors do, they can even prescribe medication. so of course, that means the pay is great. for more info, you should go google "u.s. department of labor outlook handbook".

there are no classes in the high school level to prepare you to be a nurse practitioner. you need to graduate college with a bachelor's in nursing, typically four years (not all colleges offer that). and you then you need to study more to become a nurse practitioner.

if you want to look into other health fields, check out dentistry and optometry.

I would think science, bio, health classes, psych and sociology if it's offered in yr school would all be good ones to take. try volunteering or getting an unpaid internship at a doctor's office or nursing facility so you can do the work first hand and see if u like it. I've dealt with several nurse practitioners in my time and I think they can write RX's and do a lot of things doctors do.
