What made you become a nurse. what do you like best about your job?

I have to right a paper and i have no experience. i need help!

I just like making people feel better. I came to nursing in my late 40's because finacially. I needed a better job. I had always liked the hospital setting. I was a candy striper when I was a teen and thought to be a doctor, but dropped out of college. Now that I am an RN working in a telemetry unit, I love the patients( mostly older adults), the excitement that comes with heart problems. and I especially love seeing someone who was ill get better and go home.

Another thing I'm thankful for is the chance to help a dying patient be comfortable in the last days and to ease the grief of the family if I can.

There is a lot of different types of nursing and should someone tire of hospital work, there are jobs with drug companies, insurance companies, schools, camps and of course a doctor's office.

Or a nurse can help to teach other nurses. It's a great profession.
