Dental Nurse Interview? |
Hi, I have a job interview on Monday for the position of a dental nurse within a general dental practice. Can anyone give me advice on what I'm likely to be asked, as I'm new to interviews. Thanks! Relax, they will just want to find out what you are like as a person. Its unlikely that you will get any technical questions thrown at you. Answer questions thoughtfully and dont waffle, give eye contact and smile...; yep relax be yourself if you have not been a dental nurse before they will be pleased to train you their way anyway. and would not expect you to know these things. Cheer up! Interviews don't necessarily mean they will ask you anything related to dentistry. They may ask anything out of that field as their main goal is to find someone with a presentable character; one capable of easing the patients' nervousness and yes, one who is trainable. So just go there and answer all their questions calmly and confidently according to what you know. Hiya, Firstly, just be yourself. They will probably ask you questions on the following: If you have worked as a dental nurse before: What are the roles and responsibilities of a dental nurse in the surgery/reception. how would you deal with a nervous or upset patient what personal qualaties make you a good dental nurse why do you feel that you would fit in as part of the team what areas do you enjoy most about dental nursing do you know about the new GDC (General Dental Council) registration for all dental nurses that is coming into force If you have never nursed before: What are the roles and responsibilities of a dental nurse in the surgery/reception Why would you like to be a dental nurse do you understand what sterilisation and cross infection are do you know about the new GDC (General Dental Council) registration for all dental nurses that is coming into force how would you deal with a nervous or upset patient what personal qualaties do you need to be a good dental nurse why do you feel that you would fit in as part of the team What experience have you had by going to the dentist yourself how important is dental health The dedicated websites are: http://www.badn.org.uk/ http://www.gdc-uk.org/ If you are in UK, and between 17 and 27, have you ever thought about a career in the Royal army Dental Corps as a Dental Nurse? They provide all of your training to UK Civi street equivalent standard, and you get a chance to travel the world! Basically, wherever there are soldiers in the world, there are Dental Teams in dental centres to treat the soldiers. Have a look on the website http://www.army.mod.uk/medical/dental/ca... They also tell you a lot about the roles and responsabilities of a dental nurse etc. See if you can pop into a book store at the weekend and have a look at the LEVISONS handbook for dental nurses, this is like the "holy grail" of learning books for all dental nurses, and explains all procedures, instruments, sterilisation, teeth etc. Best of luck x I have been a dental nurse for 15 years, and am now the area practice manager for 4 large dental centres. I am the person who now interviews potential dental nurses : ) |
