A nurse in the military?

if i have a BSN in nursing is it possible to find a job in or with the military, without having to actually enlist? if so, what kinds of job opportunities would i get? would i have to go overseas? any info would be really appreciated.

No, you do not have to enlist to work for the government/military. Check out the following addresses:

USAF: https://ww2.afpc.randolph.af.mil/resweb/...

US Army: http://www.chra.eur.army.mil/

USN: http://chart.donhr.navy.mil/

My aunt is a certified nurse already and she has worked for a military base in Saudi Arabia. She is Christian and she has done it for 15 years I think. She is ok and safe as far as I know. So I dont think you need to get enlisted in the military in order to get a job as a nurse there. Its more of the job at hand. Good luck to you!
You can go to work in a VA hospital. If you join the service you can be an officer with your degree. It is the needs of the service that take precedence as to where you will be stationed. So that could be anywhere in world where we have a presence.
Military hospitals do hire civilian nurses. While you might work in just about any capacity that a civilian hospital might have, you likely wouldn't get above a staff nurse position as a civilian on a base. The number of openings at any given time would be limited too.

However, some of the big retirement areas...like in Florida for instance...have such a huge retirement population that civilian run clinics are a possibility.

The civilian healthcare system for the military is called TRICARE. A good website to start would be www.tricare.org. You should be able to find information on job opportunities in your area.
Retired AF nurse and worked with TRICARE for awhile
You can be a civilian contractor with the military. The benefits are great, and they typically pay well too. Pick a base you think you might want to work at, and go to their website. There will be a link for people that are interested in working on base.
