What type of personality do you have to have to become a Nurse?

What type of personality do you have to have to become a Nurse?
I am not that social but I could try. I really want to run my own business but I will need a job that makes decent money so I can save up to run a business. Also, I think being a Nurse would be better for me b/c I do want to have a family. Also, ideally I want a job w/ independence, and good pay.

If you don't want to be a nurse, I'd strongly recommend you NOT use that as a stepping stone to something else. You'll hate it, and there's a significant nursing shortage because of all the nurses who are no longer nursing.
I know lots of nurses with lots of different personality types, and there's some room for a degree of independence, but you'll be working for somebody, and the one thing that's absolutely needed in a nurse's personality is an ability to put up with BS. I do not think the personality plays a important role in becoming a nurse. It comes down to whether you have an interest in it. If you like something then you are able to pursue it with more ease. Your marks are also important and people will look into it. I have friends that are social and some that are not social who are studying nursing. Look into the career before making your choice because you will be stuck with it a long time.
I would say some social skills are necessary, though I'm not saying you have to be a total extrovert personality; Just make sure you are a person who can a) follow directions (both verbal and written) as you will be asked by peers/physicians to do certain tasks and b) be able to communicate enough with the patient to explain to them exactly what is going on...going to the hospital/clinic can be a scary place for some patients, so being intimidating/demanding/scary is not always cool. c) last but not least, good listening skills are a must!
