Is studying to be a Registered Nurse difficult? |
I am thinking of a career change. I have a BS degree in Business Admin. My current job is not interesting nor stable. I am thinking of studying to be a RN for the pediatric or rehabilitation ward. The health industry will be stable and offers good pay, but I am afraid I will not make it in Nursing school. My math & science is extremely weak. I know I must work extra, extra hard if I want to finish the RN program. Current RNs: Do you think it would be realistic to be a RN if I am not strong in math and science? Was anyone is this situation? How was school for you? Should I consider another career/profession instead? Please also tell me if you truly enjoy being a RN. If you had to do it all over again, would you be a RN or something else (and what)? I am so undecided, your feedback will truly help me make a decision. Thank you in advance. Please don't let this discourage you, but Good Lord yes. If your brain isn't wired to absorb science and chemistry like a sponge, then it's really hard. I am an LVN/LPN (for 16 years now) going back for my BSN and it's hard. No lie, it's hard. If you have a passion for it, then by all means pursue it and best of luck to you. Apparently not since my mother in law is one........... (trust me on this one) It requires tremendous studying to become a registered nurse. There IS a difference between C.N.A. (not a nurse, they are nurses aid) L.P.N. (licensed practical nurse) and R.N. |
