Marketing professional with 11 years experience in need of job . Help!?

I have 11 years of marketing/ advertising experience ( largely in the cpg industry) and a proven track record of success. I have a resume which I believe well highlights my experience and successes. I lost my Marketing Dir. job when my company decided to restructure over a year ago. Since that time, I have had a few call by recruiters and companies. Unfortunantly, nothing has really panned out. On top of this it seems like the job market has slowed down since I have not heard anything for a few months. Does anyone have any suggestions of places to look ( other than the big job boards), or other ways to gain interest in me as a prospective employee. Thanks for any help.

There are many companies that do not spend a lot of time posting to the jobs boards. You may wish to make a list of companies that interest you and look on their websites to see their open job positions. Even if they don't have a position you might send a resume anyway if it is a company that is interesting to you.

Craigslist is also useful if that is not one of the "big boards" that you are referring to. The other thing is networking such as through online sites like linkedin.com. You could also try alumni resources and alumni groups.
