I've got a sales and marketing job interview soon, any advice ?

Emm,

You have some great tips in these answers (kudos everyone!)
I just wanted to add that you should present yourself with confidence! In order to sell anything, you must first sell yourself and in order to do that you have to be confident in yourself! If you aren't confident in yourself, others will see it and doubt your honesty. Sit straight, look them in the eyes and answer with complete confidence in yourself!

Best of luck to you! I know you can handle this!

if given the opportunity, try to sell yourself to them. it does work.

Sales and marketing interviews are just what they are sales and marketing...

First things is first, look your best and keep your ears and eyes open.

Be yourself, breath and be willing to explain (briefly),,, your answer.

If you are not clear about a question.. have them to repeat it...

Overall, be yourself and there is no such thing as a tough question.

Most times they'll say so..."Tell me a little bit about yourself". Answer, reietrate your name, your personal sales approach and what you like most about life. Be breif. Get them to see you and what you can offer.

Shake their hand before you leave and by all means.. GET THE BUSINESS CARD.

Best wishes and go make it happen.

Take 5 fresh copies of your resume. Keep a mint handy!

Requirements/expectations of the interview board from the candidate are......
Good physique and pleasing personality
Good communication skills
Convincing skills to explain about product's merits to the customers.
Good strategy to improve sales.
Leadership qualities.
Product knowledge.
Prepare well keeping the above points in view. You will be through.
All the best.

There is a difference between Sales and Marketing.

A "marketing" job is looking at the product and creating strategies, campaigns and promotions targeted to the customer who is mostly likely to buy.

A "sales" job is actually going out and getting the prospect to buy the product.

For each type of job, the approach will be different. As a marketing professional, you will need to be organized, creative, analytical and have the ability to multi-task well. In addition, people skills never hurt anyone at the workplace.

If you are going into sales, you must have outstanding people skills, the ability to listen to people's wants and needs, confidence, product knowledge and a professional appearance. Moreover, persistence and the ability to make it through tough times and dry spells will help you to succeed.

In whatever job you are going to pursue, I wish you the very best of luck!
