How do I find a sports marketing job in southern california? www.monster.com sometimes www.craigslist.org The best way to find a job is to get out the yellow pages and find places you would like to work. Call them up and ask if you can fax over your resume and to who's attention or ask if they are hiring and can you come in for an interview. Make sure the resume is very specific about what you are looking for. If it's vague the resume goes into the garbage. Only 10% of the job openings ever make it to the ad s. 70% of jobs are filled through someone you know-your mother's cousin or whoever. Working for the St. Louis Blues, you either have to know someone within the organization that you want to work for, or get lucky. Even if you get lucky, you may not get the job you seek right away. You have to pay your dues in the sports world. After working for an organization for an amount of time, your experiences there will help you land the next job, then the next, until you get to where you want to be. Be prepared to broaden your search to the US, and once you get started, you may be able to move back to your hometown. It's all about getting your foot in the door and paying your dues! Build a network in SoCal...by going to USC or UCLA. Both have great alumni networks. If SoCal is where you want to be, the contacts you make there will help you when you do what the first poster suggested. MBA--USC |
