I am starting school soon have a few questions about computer related jobs?


I live in San Diego and i am 24/m i am going back to school @ the end of the month for i guess it is a toss up right now between COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS (CIS) OR
COMPUTER NETWORKS (CN)
my questions are everything i can ask my counseler but i think she just cares about her kick back she gets from signing me up
Q#1-- is there a good job market in either of these fields?

Q#2-does no expierence mean no job with in what i went to school for after graduation--they say there placment rate is 95% but is that true?
Q#3 i looked on salery.com to see what the average income was for either of these and they do not have an option of CIS so the closest option was I.T. then a ton of options came up i guessed on one and it said like 30-40k

between these 2 jobs who makes more money?
Q#4 is an AS good enough
Q#5 it will be hard to find a job in any field str8 out of school with no expierence so what else can i do to help my chances 2 yrs from now? besides the obvious (intern)

I'd be careful with these computer schools, I went to one here in monterey park, calif and it cost $7,000 and that was 10 years ago. (the state paid for my training). You can get A+ certification at east los angeles occupational center for about $120. Computer books can be expensive but I've found many good ones at my local library.

I've found the best way to learn is hands on. Building your own computer is a good start.

If I went to school for networking I'd want to see the classrooms first. Does the school have a network that the students can work on? Does the school have enough computers for each student?

In computer college we had to share computers and many of them were old and outdated. At the occupational center we had lots of computers to choose from.

As to which jobs are best I'd ask one of the teachers. Just remember the person working in admissions is like a salesperson selling cars.
