Has anyone else had a problem with temp jobs being looked at as job hopping? |
I have always been under the impression that it was easier to get a job if you have one. I had a job where I was there for 3+ years and left under horrible circumstances in bad job market. I worked a part time job in an unrelated field during and after this position. I decided to try the job market again and found something through a temp agency. This was a long term temp position; there was no chance of being brought on board. I knew this going in and stayed there for 6 months. After this, I was offered another job through the same agency and was hired on after 4 months as a permanent employee (been here almost 2 years in total). I hate it. Rule and standards only apply to certain individuals. Everything that I have been told is flipped around and the work environment is non exisitent. I am currently looking for something a bit more challenging, but do not want to be viewed as a job hopper. When I interview, I am positive and focus on the learning part. Any suggestions? I've worked two contract jobs and one as a independent contractor. Yeah, I think it does affect me getting hired. What POs me more is that I'm applying for short contract jobs where they want me to work for only 3 months but seem to look down on short work experiences. What I have been doing is mixing all my experience together in my resume and then putting work history seperate so it doesn't look as much like I've changed jobs. I only give them a resume that chronologically gives work experience when they ask. CashCrate is a great site to make money on if you live in the USA (or Canada). I made $494+ in February. But it did take a bit of work initially--I added referrals--and the money got better. And I believe my earnings will continue to grow. I started by answering surveys on CashCrate and filling out some free offers and received a real check from them. For example, I signed up for E-bay and made a bid and got paid $8.00. And there are no fees to join. It is totally free. So I made a little my first month with them. But once I found out this site was legit, I started adding referrals. For every person you refer, you get 20% of what they earn. And for every person that one of your referrals refer to CashCrate, you get 10%. It may take some time to build up the number of referrals necessary to make a lot of money, but in time--this could be a great source of income--making money while other people are in a sense, working for you. And by the way--never join a work at home program that wants you to pay up front. If they were making that much money, they wouldn't need to charge you. Note: There are not many offers on this site for users outside of the USA (there quite a few offers for Canadian users though). But if you are in another country, you could still refer users from the USA to CashCrate and make money on those referrals. - http://www.*************/index... I used to do temping after I had my little girl to get back into the swing of things. When going for an interview they may ask you to explain why you have had several jobs, just be honest. Explain that there wasn't much about and temping work kept you busy. If the company likes your personality and you have the right skills then there is no reason why you shouldn't get the job. If you are unsuccessful, ask for feedback. Good luck It is a bummer when your resume starts getting very crowded with numerous jobs. I found it helpful to mention that those jobs where in fact temporary on the resume and I began to get more interviews. (Apparently tho alot of employers looks like job hopping It also shows a persons desire to work) So make that resume as informative as possible and dollface SELL YOURSELF I started letting potential employers know that yes i have worked various places but look what it has done for me expierence wise Also when I had a job that seasonal e.g. Tax preparation I asked my supervisors to give me a recomendation to put with my resume *snap snap head wabble Have a great day |
