Which is better: BS in Business/marketing, or BS in Business/finance? |
I cannot decide which degree program to work towards. I have an AS in Graphic Design which has done nothing for me so it is time for a switch, but I don't know which direction. Which field has a better job market? Marketing is more of a creative skill that includes data/number crunching based on demographics and measuring results, but can be very difficult to get an accurate tracking of results. Your marketing jobs will typically be found in major cities- there isn't much opporunity in smaller towns. Finance, however, is needed everywhere. Every business has accounts payable, receivables, debt-to-income ratios, etc. If you're looking for something more logical and generally reliable, finance is probably the way you want to go. Marketing can be hit or miss, unfortunately. why not both? it seems the marketing degree would really compliment your associate's degree. on the other hand the finance degree would give you an opportunity to get away from the lack of direction the associate's degree has provided for you so far. it's up to you, the above person has really outlined the direction of interest encompassing each major. If you could do both, than that's great. |
