Are temp/contract jobs as big where you are as they are here? |
I'm in MN.. It seems like temp services are taking over the job market here.. Like nobody wants to hire full-time permanant workers anymore. Is it like that everywhere or where you are? Just curious.. It's a national strategy. Companies expand by hiring temps, to see if their expansion will pan out, then hire permanent employees to fill proven jobs. Some companies, however, hire only temps to fill non-skilled positions because their expenses are known up front. No unemployment benefits, no health care, no impact on 'human resources', no worker's rights, etc. It's a good way to test prospective employees without deadlines or unemployment liability. In N.E. Tenn, factory jobs are generally filled through the temp system. Full-time employees are bought out from temp agencies. It's because companies don't have to pay benefits, etc... for a temp worker. Yeah, I think the country in general is seeing more and more. Whatever helps them get to keep more money by not giving people benefits... : ( |
