RAJ- MBA doing my second semester i just want to know the job oppurtunities in the field of human resource and marketing because i am willing to take it up as my specialization .which field will give me a better future .and also i am planning to do my further studied i n the field of psychology This question is miscategorized. Special Education refers to the education and parenting of children with special needs. Do you know how to operate a broom? People plan all sorts of careers, just like little kids. Then they end up where the wind blows them. The range of opportunities available to you is contingent on several factors; I shall list out the top ones: 1. Market conditions when you are graduating & future outlook 2. Institute of Study 3. Personal Performance in institute of study 4. Educational and/or Professional background Since you intend to specialise in both HR & marketing, your range of opportunities is pretty vast, lesser in my opinion to only a marketing-finance combination. You may know that there are very few opportunities where you can switch between roles in marketing & HR, especially at entry level. Therefore in all likelihood, you will have to choose one stream at this point of time. I'd advise that you prefer marketing to HR at this time unless you are keen that you do HR for the rest of your life. Entering into marketing gives you the option to get cross-functional exposure, and may enale you to move to more challenging, more exciting & more rewarding roles. This decision is upto you to take, but I shall try & explain the range of opportunities that you have, some of which may not be available to you based on the five factors I outline earlier. Marketing: You may enter an organisation in the role of a sales manager or a sales executive. This is the most common entry-point for most marketing graduates. This can be done in all sorts of industries. Nature of tasks can differ from industry to industry, from a near direct sales role in high-tech to a near-total management role in FMCG. Apart from this, you may also have opportunities to enter in the role of a brand/product manager, though these opportuniities are very few in number. Finally you may get an opportunity to enter into the statistical domain, by analysing/researching marketing trends, and perhaps even involve yourself in product development. HR: As far as HR is concerned, you would either take a generalist approach & opt for an admin-type of role. On the other hand, you may also choose to opt for a specialist role , and take up a particular task such as managing appraisals or designing compensation packages, etc. Apart from this, in both marketing and HR, you may be able to get the role of a consultant. Note that these opportunities represent various facets of each field, and it is very likely that you will do each of those roles over a period of time, voluntarily or involuntarily. Just be careful in choosing the role you want to enter. Research these roles carefully in general, and also with the context of each organisation specifically. Similar-sounding roles can vary a lot among organisations. And if you enter marketing or HR, don't worry that your education in the other will go waste. You will have enough situations in your day-to-day job where you apply concepts and learnings from either of the fields. Great Luck! |
