What type of jobs are out there that don't force you to deal with people? |
I'm educated and have a marketing communications background. What jobs are out there for someone like me that don't require dealing with "customers" or "clients" throughout the day, every day? I once held a job as a copywriter and was allowed to do my work with minimal customer contact. Out of all the jobs I've held, I enjoyed it the most, but am not sure I want to write. Any suggestions? Don't listen to the other responses to your question - there are actually non-customer service positions that don't force you to work with external customers. Most of these jobs usually require some technical expertise. Copywriter is potentially one of them as you mentioned. Many IT professions don't involve work with external customers; research-oriented positions, finance positions and math positions are some other candidates; some attorneys don't work with external clients. Of course, data entry and blue-collar jobs are also options, but not great choices. The key is to obtain significant training in a specialized career niche that relies more on intensive thinking than external service - the more intensive thinking you need to do, the less likely you'll be used for external customer service. I work with a bunch of insurance actuaries, and trust me, they don't do lots of customer service. none no matter what you do you'll have 2 deal with someone lol There are not too many of these jobs available because you have to have some contact with people one way or another. In my opinion, Customer service is a primary focus on all jobs. Hope this helps... God Bless.... Some would say "I hate to burst your bubble" but the fact is, your bubble just got deflated. You will always have to deal with people. Even now, as you pose this question, you are asking "people" to help you with answers. Learn to embrace people and try to help them and in return, the comfort you get will help you to overcome will come from people. |
