Is it likely for a Marketing major to get a Public Relations Job?

I only will have a Marketing BS when I graduate and no communications Minor or anything, but I really am passionate about PR. That is truly what I'd looove to do. So is it likely that I can obtain that job with just a BS in Marketing? Most of the people I know that want to do PR are Communication majors with Marketing Minor.

To be in PR you'll need experience--marketing is great, but you have no experience with press releases or ANYTHING required with PR.

Try interning at a PR firm for a little while. The experience will be great, even if you don't get paid of it. You'll get to know the field. Right now if you went into the field, you wouldn't do so well.

Most of the PR jobs that are open right now REQUIRE a business degree of some sort AND 2+ years of PR experience. Source(s): I just graduated with a communications major--it's tough getting a job out there!
