What is the job outlook for a career in marketing? |
I was thinking of taking marketing up when I went to college. Does anyone if this has a good job outlook? Also, do you know if a lot of the classes have to with math? It truly depends on what your market for marketing is. Where you live (as far as jobs for you go... not your product). Marketing is truly a rewarding and creative career where you can tap fully into your imaginative ideas. I have been in marketing and public relations for 16 years. It has taken a long time for me to accept the fact that the area in which I live is not an ideal place for a good marketing job so I am actually in limbo and want to change my career at this time. Some advice is that in order to be successfull in marketing...you have to keep a good attitude and have a "people oriented" personality. Operations and marketing are like oil and water and know that when things are good...it's everyone elses success, but when things are bad...it's marketing's fault. These are unspoken secrets and rules of thumb. lol. Keep those things in mind and don't forget to cover your butt in e-mails and invoices. To answer the math question...you will have to learn how to create a budget and stick with it. You will have to know how to buy media and what to expect to pay. You will have to know your customer numbers and be able to track and list the percentages of response on your campaigns. Mostly you will need general mathamatics. Good luck... lign="right" > Sign in to vote!
