My parents prefer IB, and I also chose IB because I like to travel around the world, but I find out that I am only interested in travelling around the world, not the International Business itself, what I like is marketing, because I am a creative person and like to be creative, but my parents say marketing will only give you a sales job, I am not good at talking at all so I would rather avoid it.
i'm a marketing major and sales is not the only kind of job you can get but most of the time, people just put a "marketing" label on a sales job. i am graduating in may and i REFUSE to take a sales job. i actually have an internship in something unrelated to marketing and will probably end up working there upon graduation because i haven't yet found a real marketing job (i.e. not sales)
you might want to go with IB but i totally understand your desire to work in marketing. if you are a creative person, try a major in communications or advertising because they are on the creative side of things and do a lot of work with the marketing folks to create ad campaigns, promote new products, etc. nowadays, a lot of marketing comes down to the bottom line--sell, sell, sell. |
