Increasing the minimum wage will drive more American jobs overseas?

If you increase the minimum wage, does it not become more expensive to hire a worker in America which will make companies think 'we should export these jobs as its cheaper to hire people in China'.

I question whether there should be a minimum wage at all, but that aside, I think that the young, inexperienced workers are the ones most impacted when the minimum wage goes up. For small business or fast food places, the same number of dollars are available to fund fewer hours. Otherwise they go out of business in lots of places.

I think it's higher paying union jobs like car & clothing manufacturing, that have gone to other countries. Call centers, too, are going overseas, but lots of customers are rising up against companies whose warranty people have such heavy accents they can't be understood easily. It's a reason why companies like Dell are not doing as well as they had.
Yes it would. Best thing to do is get rid of ALL immigrants. Put a check on number of jobs that are outsourced. Boom! We go through Golden Age.
Thats what is happening in the UK. A lot of our call centres are now in places like Bombay and Madras!
In a way yes but they should still raise it a little more. People should just go to school, educate themselves and look for jobs that are way over min wage though.
No, that is just an excuse to keep the poor poor. If this were the case, then there is a permanent minimum wage freeze, otherwise the U.S. economy will be ruined.
Yes, that is one problem. The other is that the people who are most affected are the unskilled laborers. Companies will simply hire fewer people - they can only pass along so much of the additional expense.

Time and time again, economic professionals show that raising minimum wage lowers the standard of living for the lowest economic level.
No, since the jobs that can go overseas are already overseas, what it will do is make sure that the jobs that cannot be exported pay a reasonable living wage. And, the proposed $7.00 is still NOT a reasonable living wage. You cannot export hotel staff, waiters, security officers, general counter help, to India.
