It would seem to make sense. So then what is the social benefit of having so many of the manufacturing jobs that were once in the USA being outsourced to China? Doesn't that drive down the pay and standard of living for American workers? Wouldn't it also increase unemployment and the incentive for criminal behavior?
I don't think so. Better education, drug treatment, and birth control would reduce the crime rates. Draconian laws tend to drive down the crime rate as well, in the truest sense of the old Patriarch. Kill them for anything and everything and they tend to behave more civilly but that would not be acceptable to most western countries and societies at this point in history. |
