Trip to china?

hi everyone
I am so anxious at the moment as my job is about military,so how should i do if i plan go to china to make trip? Does it need a lot of time to make paper work and how long i will get this paper done?

2 weeks to get a Visa and 2 weeks to get the ok from NASA.

I spend over 20 years in the military with a security clearance quite a bite higher then top secret, I think you need to first check with your G-2 before you apply for a visa to go overseas.

When you go to China, bring lots of small packages of tissue (often the restrooms do not have toilet paper).

Also, bring any over-the-counter medicines, since they are usually hard-to-find there (even though prescription medicines are easy to buy without any paperwork, LOL).

Finally, try to learn a few simple Chinese phrases. If you can say anything in Chinese, people will be more likely to try to help you.

"nee how" = "hello" (spelled "ni hao" in pinyin)
"dway boo chee" = "I'm sorry" (dui bu qi)
"she-she" = "thank you" (xie xie)
"bing shway" = "cold water" (it was hot when I visited, LOL)
"suh soo-oh" = "toilet" (ce suo)
"ren min bee" = (renminbi) Chinese money (also called "yoo-wahn"), abbreviated RMB, and looks like a capital Y with an equals sign though it
"choo zoo chuh" = "taxi" (chu zu che) - hold your arm almost straight to the side (down a little bit) and point down to hail a taxi.
"gom bay" = "bottoms up!" when you're drinking (gam bei)...

NOTE: do NOT drink baijiu (bi-gee-oh). It looks like water, gets you a little drunk very quickly, and does not have a morning hang-over... but at about 3 or 4pm, you will feel like a horse kicked you in the belly... many times. Stick with beer. Order "Tching-dow" ("Qing dao" or "Tsing tao") for the usual Chinese brand, but most places will have American beers.

"Low-why" (rhymes with cow-fly) = "foreigner"
"pee-gee-ooh" = beer

You work for NASA, but you cannot write 3 proper English sentences? Are you from another country? (I do not mean to be rude, but I was surprised to see such poor English. I expect everyone at NASA to be a genius, and therefore speak perfect English!)

If you look Asian, you will probably be able to haggle for lower prices in many of the shops... unless you are Japanese. They seemed to get the highest prices.
