Resources for living in China or Taiwan?

I'm considering a job that would have me living in either Nanjing or Taipei. What are some good expat resources I can read to decide if I really want to move?

Of course Taiwan is a not-yet acknowledged independent country. And it might never be official. Taiwan, however, has its own government, President, and constitution etc. Plus we have democracy, but those mainland Chinese don't. That perfectly shows the fact that Taiwan is as independent from China as the US from England.
I live in Taiwan; I am pround of it.
