Careers for MA Chinese grads?? |
When I first started studying Chinese everyone told me about the great opportunities I would have.... I DO have a passion for Chinese language and culture, but now that I've graduated college (BA Chinese language and culture), lived in Shanghai for a year, and am about to graduate from an MA (Chinese Studies) program in the US, I am finding it increasingly difficult to acquire a job overseas where I will make more than $5 an hour... I held two different teaching jobs while I lived in China, but my income was barely enough to live on....Does anyone know of any businesses or NGO's with subsidiary companies in China that would be interested in hiring someone like me? If you could give me some names of companies, etc. it would be much appreciated!! Thanks to for all responses in advance :) I assume you are North American, so the object is not to get a job in China, but to find employment in North America, as a Chinese Liaison. It should pay upwards of $100,000 per year typically. I would suggest starting your own company import/export. Work on getting some large clients like walmart or sears. Of course you could do like Da shan did from canada and start your own game show in china, how about become a movie star, im sure they need some lao mei movie stars in china. I think with your background you can easily find a job in college, usually well paid. There are many foreign teachers who can not speak Chinese. I don't know why you had a hard time to find a good job. Or you can join a foreign company in China. You can try this website http://ask.jongo.com/ maybe you can find some useful advise there. Maybe you can try to join this company! |
