Family balance - children security and development?

Just got a son over here. I'm working normal workdays and only home in evenings and on weekends. My wife is home now together with her mom taking care of the baby, but my wife would like to start working after a couple of months. Something which I totally support.

We've been thinking back and forth how to make sure the baby is safe and can develop in a good way when we're not home. When it comes to trust I totally trust my wifes mother to take care of our child, but when it comes to development and learning I think she is not at all suitable to be in charge.

If we were to hire some person to help I guess we would be worried about both the security and the learning aspect....

Would be a real pity if my wife were to give up her career in order to stay home, although that would be best for the child...

We're in China so part time jobs are rare over here. Besides, my wife is a career type of woman. No interest in easy or teaching jobs etc..

Got any great ideas?

Have you ever talked to your mother in law to tell her how you want your son raised? I was in your position before. Look at your wife did she do well raising her? Is she smart? Did she do well so far in life? It sounds like she is. Buy some stuff for your mother in law to use. work with your child at night when you get home. My mother in law helped so much my son is now in 5th grade in the honors program and is doing well above average. Its the time you put in with the child. I loved coming home and seeing her reading a book every single day from day one she was amazing. We did discuss with her how we wanted him raised

I WOULD SAY TRY AND HIRE SOMEONE THAT YOU FEEL WOULD NOT ONLY LOOK OUT FOR YOUR CHILDS SECURITY BUT THERE DEVELOPMENT AS WELL. WOULD YOUR MOTHER-INLAW BE WILLING TO HAVE HELP.YOU KNOW SOMEONE HELPING OUT WITH THE DEVELOPMENTAL PART OF THINGS AT LEAST WITH YOUR MOM THERE WITH THE PERSON YOU CHOOSE YOU WOULD KNOW AND FEEL THAT YOUR CHILD IS SAFE AND SECURE. IF YOUR MOTHER-INLAW WOULD NOT TAKE OFFENSE I WOULD SAY THIS WOULD BE THE BEST OPTION. GOOD LUCK TO YOU YOUR WIFE AND BABY!!
