Should we raise the minimum wage?

I say no for a few reasons.
1. Minimum wage paying jobs where never ment to raise a family on. They are for students and young people for earning extra money. Like flipping burgers an Burger King or Wendys.
2. Is it really my problem or the rest of Americas if "poor Bob" cant feed his family? No one made him get married and get a woman pregnant. It was the persons choice. If you cant feed them dont breed them.
3. If you raise minimum wage then the companies are gonna have to raise prices etc. This will force more jobs out of the USA. Why should they pay someone alot of money in the USA when they can pay people in China to do it for a few dimes. Or say Burger King will have to raise the price of a Burger more. Thus they will have to cut on employees and the the farmers will see the effect. Because they wont buy as much potatos etc.

And dont give me crap about not being able to afford school. I am gonna use my GI Bill I earned in the Marine Corps. I know there are many routes.

No, it doesn't need to be raised. The more it's raised, the more people will complain and want it to be raised even more. It's a never ending cycle. If you want more then minimum wage, apply for jobs that pay more then minimum wage.
The minimum wage needs to be raised. the wages of senators and Congress men need to be lowered, the president should get the half of what he gets, while he is a billionaire any ways. Bill gates has too much as so do any other billionaire
I think we just did.
I think it should be raised some, but the predictions of 7.25 by year 2009 is a great big jump.
Well whether congress should or not they did. I hope the dems out there watch this closely and see the damage it does to the ones that it's supposed to help.
I think you people misunderstand. The house approved a minimum wage increase. it now goes to the Senate for approval. If the Senate approves it without any addition it goes to the President for his approval. The house approved the minimum wage to go up 70 cents a year for three years. A person working 40 hours a week for 52 weeks equals $1456 a year. Now multiply that number by the number of employees where you work. Don't forget your employer pays half of your Social Security so that also cost the employer more. It is mandated they carry workers compensation on employees. this is based on paid out wages, so this also goes up. Say you have ten employees, the raise in the minimum wage has the effect of adding $18,000 to your operating expense. Where do you make up this money? You raise prices. Which in effect makes the raise null and void, and for those that earned more than minimum wage, they have lost dollar buying power. Now this is going to repeat for three years in a row.
I have never seen a company twist anyones arm to work at their business. People apply for the position and accept or reject the wage the employer pays! If everyone rejects what the company is willing to pay, they raise their wages or go out of business!

If you want a liveable wage they should have raised it to a minimum of $12!
