Is China Really Communist?

Since Communism and Capitalism are polar opposites, then its impossible for China to be Communist. Even Henry Kissinger agrees they are no longer communist. Nor can they be totalitarian since China does not control all aspects of peoples lives. In fact, they are not much in control of the individual since they are free to travel, open businesses, change jobs, etc. Nor is it a dictatorship since President Hu is elected by the National People's Congress.

Who says China does not control it's people??? Try getting a political gathering in Tienimen (sp?) Square and see how long it takes for the govt to take control.

To suggest that China is not a totalitarien state is laughable.

China is a brutal regime.

China has a facist capitalistic system similar to what nazi germany had..............although hitler called himself a socialist and Nazi stands for national socialist party..............Pretty much all dictators have to pretend to be socialist...by promising handouts and help for the "poor" they gain power and take total control eventually after developing secret police and a well armed military to enforce their "socialism"

They are something called State Capitalism. They have free enterprise, but the government invests and subsidizes it heavily.

You should watch the Frontline episode about how Yahoo is censoring things in China and working with the government. The Chinese government is very brutal

Totally agree with "I was thinking" ... I do not believe somebody knows Marx theories.
