If China or India became superpowers & America declined...? |
i.e. if the Asian countries had plenty of jobs and money, and America became a second-rate nation (supposing) then would all the immigrants move away from America & settle in China or India? Probably not. I've asked a lot of Indian Immigrants why they came to the US when the jobs are all going the other way. They all said that Indian Society was too restrictive. i hope so. HELLLLLLLLLL NOOOOOOOOOOO Only the "illegal" ones. No doubt about it. I don't see why not, since people, ever since written memory have been moving around, looking for better everything for their family and loved ones in general. Yes. The cons can deny it but they can't present numerical facts...just their empty emotions for a once great country ruined by conservatism. No, because America for me is like a home away from my home. So unless it becomes like really bad like African country or Mexico, I will still live here & contributte as much as I can to America. Nay, America was based and built by illegal immigrants who killed and enslaved native population and took their land. America is the nation of immigrants. China and India are not, so I think they won't let us in easily or we will be severely discriminated. they go where the jobs and $ are..and freedom! I hope that doesn't happen. Who would mow my lawn? Just because India & China become superpowers doesn't mean that the U.S. is second rate. Long ago the British Empire was a superpower and now England is not considered second rate. Forget the labels, people would possibly migrate where the good jobs are. We could always hope. Remember, there is this potential. The USA is moving away from the "industrial" powerhouse it used to be. The USA is more of a "service" industry. The labor in India and China is more affordable. The only reason the countries you mention are doing well is because of inward investment, due to the cheaper labour market. In advancing those societies towards Superpowers the cheap labour market would decline, and inward investment would also decline. Thus becoming a Superpower is not as straight forward as it may seem. Neither country has much of a history of encouraging foreign immigration. Both have huge underemployed populations. If you can spin out a plausible future scenario where that would no longer be true maybe we could talk about that. But even then I very much doubt either country would want significant numbers of foriegners wandering about. Being China has a one child policy, and India is densely populated I doubt they will take in anyone from anywhere haha u making me crackup. They will never become superpowers - the only reason they are doing well now is from the billions of dollars of investment capital from multi-national corporations and they get to practice protectionism. And the billions sent from them working as scabs here. I don't think we should have to become a third world nation to get rid of our undesirables. |
