Should We Have links With China? |
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7... i mean mixed The government has been really pushing British exports to China for the past 8-10 years now - this is not new. China has been one of the fastest growing export markets for the UK for quite some time, particularly biotech and services. no "NO" I agree with you, in my heart of hearts i say no because of their human rights record.. but then how are we going to improve this if we dont start communication wit them no No. NO!! And if we boycott "links" with China how would we be in a position to raise human rights issues anyway? I think we should have good trade links as this would benefit the UK. As for the human rights issue this really has nothing to do with business. I'm pretty sure China ain't to happy on our governments foreign policy but they are willing to trade !! :) China is a strange country, on one hand you have multimillionaires in Shanghai and on the other you have people in villages been evicted to bulldoze villages some thousands of years old to build this developing nation. For them reasons have to say you cannot just leave things and not talk to someone. Have to talk to someone sometime after all. I think the once imperialist British are in no place to lecture about human rights. If the British know what's good for them they will forge good links with China - the US will be looking up to China by the year 2100. no way you cant have links to China.NZ and Australia have been trading with China for years ...I guess this will put all the prices up for them. Yes, of course, chinese people are no less than any other country's citizens and need the opportunities to enrich their country and family just like anyone else. Just because they have a huge land mass filled with over a billion people and a government that sucks... I can't see any harm as China is becoming a world exporter and if Britain can benefit from this then why not especially if it make more jobs for British workers, One could argue the issue of human rights could be a factor but if we took that into account we would have to stop trading with India and a few other countries as well as if the Chinese need Britain's financial services, pretty soon they own all of Brittany. Links with China? Yes. China is by far the vastest country on the globe in terms of population , they make huge amounts of inexpensive goods for the British Markets and businesses.. Not to 'tap' this huge pot would be financial suicide. If you could 'force yourself' to ignore the Chinese 'internal' human rights matters , the sky's the limit. For example , a brand new flat screen TV for 拢600 would cost well over the 拢800 mark if it was made by British workers because of the high (ish) pay structures and the potential for Industrial Action we all have the right to in this country. Gordon Brown , as Prime Minister , is absolutely correct in going over to China and India. we shouldnt have links with muslim countries either as they have appalling human rights records what are you mixed about Kamran. The trade question or the human rights question? the links are un avoidable! look on the underside or your laptops, i bet it says assembled in China......too late Look what trade with China has done to the US. |
