Will Walmart and Nike pressure manufacturers to open plants in Burma, as they have done in China?

The repressive totalitarian crackdown in China on democracy movements and labor resulted in U.S. Corporations moving jobs there in the millions to take advantage of workers with no rights and low wages.

After hundreds of monk corses are buried and the Burmese massacre is out of the headlines, will "Myanmar" be the next target for Nike and Walmart manufacturing subcontractors to capitalize on "Favorable Business Conitions."

Thomas "Give War a Chance" Friedman must be drooling.

They will say they had no choice to move from China to Myanmar because the greedy workers in China were demanding $10 a week.

This is a question that we should have Hillary and Bill asks their friends at Wal-Mart.

If it will increase their personal profits off of Wal-Mart stocks, I'm sure Hillary will see to it IF she takes office.

I hope not!
How about opening some in the U.S. with some good paying jobs?
If they're going to make that stuff overseas then let them sell it overseas!
They shouldn't be getting access to *our* markets!

WalMart, Nike, and the others are simply trying to answer consumer demand for less expensive products. To lower their cost of manufacturing, they've contracted with existing plants to produce their products.

They would do this in Russia, Iran, Kenya, Peru, Iceland, or anywhere else they could find lower costs of labor. The government and its practices are of little concern to them.

It's not Nike Or Walmart's fault, it is the lazy laborers in China who can't seem to work properly.

It depends on whether labor costs are low enough.
