How can I find out more about wages for Americans in China?

My husband and I are moving to China in a few months. While he already has a great job there, I am still to find one for myself. I am currently working as a Restaurant Manager - Fine Dining. How much money should I be expecting to make over there doing the same? How about bartending or serving? (you got to start from somewhere...)

Only if you are fluent in Chinese can you get this kind of job.

Best bet is to check out the expat websites in the city you will move to. Be aware, you are going to have a problem getting the right paperwork to legally work there in any industry except teaching English (Just think about it: no bar in the US would import an immigrant to work when there are so many citizens looking for a job).

One option would be to check out the high end hotels who may be able to legally employ you as a "consultant". Good luck.
