We've Gone From China Bashing to Senate Bathroom Bashing In Only a Week - comments?

Yesterday there was another story of lead in toys from China yet that got barely a whisper in the press.

Now we're fixated on the Grand Ole Party and Bathroom Boys.

Before it was, "Got to protect our children, OH MY F'ing GOD!! Too, did you hear about that senator who exposes himself?"

We go from one tabloid to another and then call ourselves informed and then have the balls to try to rule the world through our military, trade policies and politics.

All while we fetter away our future through our lack of planning and painting every picture with a bloody brush. We are a very selfish lot, we're doing a terrible job in regards to our children's future. While we think we are protecting them through our short sighted actions, we're not doing much for their future, if anything.

Peace

Even though I left the country, I still vote

I concur, the biggest mistake I ever made was having kids. I am worried for their future.

Hillary told the media to bury her illegal capaign donations story. This is how they do it.

I'm sure we'll get back to bashing China again tomorrow.

You've left the country. Why are you still ranting and saying 'we'?
Piss off.

i dont have kids, by choice.

The Chinese understand the implications of the lead toy incident for their trade relationship with the US and will likely put a stop to it. Remember the Chinese food tainting scandal a few months ago? The official who was responsible for the tainting was taken round the back and shot. The Chinese don't allow anyone to undermine their business interests, period.

America has a short attention span.

Ah, if only the world was like a soap opera... OH WAIT, it is.

Sex supersedes toys/poisons
Sex supersedes most everything.
People like to think about it
It is what produces children that eat lead toys.
people think that if they can control sex, they can control the world.. which is most likely true..religions try their hardest to.

The nation is obviously split along party lines. American foreign/domestic policy is dictated by short term monetary gain. The media is slowly becoming a propoganda instrument which avoids in depth reporting and instead bends the truth to push their agendas. Nearly every national news channel does this, not to mention they tend to focus on tabloid-esque crap because they're trying to be entertainment.

Jim...you summed it up quite well. do you think we're just getting old and frustrated? i,and i assume you, can remember a time not so long ago, when the U.S. shadow upon the world seemed not so menacing. to us its children or our neighbors around the world. a time when arrogance and self interest first was not paramount in our profile. when we as a people seemed more coherent and able to compromise. i don't have the answer, and my optimism is a bit tattered; but, thank you for wiping the haze off the mirror.

I think we should give China a chance, just like the US has had its opportunity to prove itself.

Well, maybe majority of American are more afraid of homosexual than tainted food.

We've gone down the toilet alright.

This is for Belle actually. China has had a few thousand years to prove themselves. How much time should we give them?

Anyway, to the question if it bleeds it leads, and then after the blood comes the sex. Everything else is just filler. That is what the new casters give us because that is what will make people watch their shows. People are very voyeuristic, and most of them love other people's misery and embarrassment.

Hey Jim, I thought you wanted comments on why we went from bashing China, to the Senator. You took what I said wrong. The comment I was referring to was the one where the person said we should just give China a chance to prove themselves. Like we had a chance to do here. Well China has been established a very long time, much longer than the US, so I thought the comment was ridiculous. I do realize that there is much I don't know about China and if I understood YOUR question to be on how much I knew or didn't know about China, I would simply have not answered it.

Peace!!!

I don't think I would do to much condemnation of China. They own hundreds of billions of US debt dollars. Aside from that, China is rebuilding their infrastructure while our government lets ours slide into ruin. China is providing their people with ever improving health care, building hospitals, educating doctors & surgeons in ever increasing numbers. Investing billions in China's environment. While America's standard of living keeps slipping,China's keeps getting better. China is investing in China's welfare. America is providing welfare for another nation. Chinese are good learners. Through the years they learned from America how to be a great nation. They WILL become one! Too bad we did not retain the lessons we learned while becoming the great nation that we were before greed captured our hearts & minds.
