Causes for financial recession?

What are your views on primary and secondary factors that will cause a recession in 2008... (2007 won't experience one). ? What will be the impact (positive - negative) of the devalued dollar -- will it increase our exports and create more jobs? What effect will the devaluation have on European, Latin American, and Emerging countries -- (China pegging Yuan to dollar won't be impacted).

Tim, I appreciate the response but was looking for thoughts on factors other than sub-prime mess. I would really like to better understand the decline of the dollar against the euro/looney and what this means for money (demand for stocks/products) from europe/canada/AP/LA.

2008 may or may not have a recession...

The next two quarters of negative GDP will be caused by;

1. subprime loan mess [mega financial failures]

2. falling house prices [deflating housing bubble]

3. consumers borrowing/spending less [scared shitless]

It is no longer a matter of "if" but when...
