How do you go about getting a job in an embassy abroad?

I'm a highschool student and it is time for me to narrow my career path. I am really interested in becoming a diplomat and/or working in an embassy. I was just looking for the best path in.

You must enter the US Foreign Service. You can specialize as a FS officer and advise the Ambassador on economic, social areas, etc, you can even work with the Embassy/Consulate and plan events or work with your counterparts in the foreign government.

Ambassador is, of course, a Presidential appointment. Should you so desire, you can do it now by following the instructions found on the White House web page.
