Are there any jobs for midwives in the UK?

I've heard conflicting views on this, apparently there is a shortage BUT because of NHS cut backs there are still hardly any jobs. I am thinking about training but want to be able to get a job afterwards! preferably without moving abroad!

Here is a website for an agency that recruits midwives. Have a look at the vacancies and that should give you some idea about current demand. I'm sure if you call them they'd talk to you about the demand for midwives.
