Why do Singapore companies advertise career opportunities worldwide with a note: for Singapore residents only? |
This really tickled my curiosity. Why would they put the job opportunities in an "international" job search websites, but at the same time put an extra note of "for PR holders or Singapore residents only"? And is there such company who'll fully sponsor their international workers? I mean, when I look for a job abroad, I'm thinking to get paid. Not pay for all the cost. Anybody got an answer for this? Thanks :) This is just a guess, but I'd wager there are some regulations that require them to fill a post with residents of Singapore, but that they can get around that if none of the applicants actually are from Singapore. If they post the job internationally, in places where they thing they'll find the people they want in the first place, they can show that they advertised the position widely, but only aliens were interested in the post. |
