Finding / choosing a job abroad?

I reside in South Africa and would like to work apply for work abroad but I unfortunately don't know where to start looking and how to find the right kind of job for me . Any suggestions / tips ????

Very broad question but I'll try to help! First off all you need to examine where you would like to go, which cultures appeal to you, perhaps somewhere you have visited before which you liked, or somewhere where you have connections, family, friends, etc. Do you want city living? Beach life? Somewhere off the beaten track? Small town culture? Is language an issue? Do you need to be in an English speaking country or are you keen to try a completely different lifestyle? Do you have transferable skills? Do you have qualifications and experience that would be welcomed in other countries? Examine work permits and restrictions in different countries, it's not always possible to just relocate and start work. Look at living costs in different countries, how much is rent and bills in relation to salaries.

Think about the possibility of working and travelling at same time, lots of people travel around Europe picking up casual work doing fruit picking and general labouring. Or maybe spend some time in a kibbutz if that appeals to you. If your age qualifies you, you could travel around and stay in youth hostels and dormitaries, cheap and easy. One good thing about doing this is you meet lots of new people, experience lots of different jobs and gives you the opportunity to try different things to work out what appeals to you.

Or you could consider a gap year, have a look at www.findagap.com, find out about paid work overseas, cruise ships, ski resorts, watersports, bar jobs, fruit picking, lots of stuff you could do.

Good luck to you!
