Has any one taken a TEFL course and gone abroad to teach?? |
I am about to take a TEFL course and i've been hunting around for jobs abroad, there's loads, what continets have you worked on and were they good experiences?? I did a TEFL Cert at ITTC in Bournemouth in 1992 and have been teaching in Turkey ever since. The money has rarely been good but the social life has almost always been worthwhile! Teaching is interesting and stimulating, too. I did a TEFL course at www.teflworldwideprague.com and loved it! It's an intense 4 week course, but it's also really fun. I left totally prepared to teach any where. Good luck! Report It Why not try Malta? Over 50 language schools here and always need teachers in the summer. The winter months could be a bit slow though. Hi Ali, I did a T.E.F.L diploma course two years ago in London. I got a job in North of Spain a place called Vigo; I was there for one year. I enjoyed it but the money wasn't great. The social live was brilliant, and it was a great way to learn Spanish. But if you want to make real money in teaching English I would suggest China, Korea and Japan. That where the market is in teaching English. i haven't myself, though i'm looking into it. i've been doing a lot of reserach at tefl.com and http://www.teachabroad.com/search.cfm I did a tesol diploma in the Uk and now work in Spain, near Alicante. The money isn't great and work can be hard to find, especially in August when everything closes for holidays. However, the social life is great and you get to meet lots of new people. It's also a great way to learn the language. |
