I'm doing an internship abroad, but I feel like I'm wasting my money. Any advice?

I've been at an unpaid internship abroad that I've paid $2400.00 to go to so that I could practice a foreign language simultaneously for two months, and I haven't yet done anything useful.

They just started me on some semi-useful work, because a new girl came in and was put to work right away. I am thoroughly pissed off, and am about to give my boss, who I like very much, an ultimatum. It's nothing personal, but I have a month left here, and damn it, I need something to say about this job during my interview besides "Excel data entry, and makes a good cup of coffee."

I'm doing absolutely NONE of the things that I was told I'd be doing when I went down, and I'm fed up to say the least. Any advice/similar experiences?

Talk to your boss, first, ask why the new girl was sent to work and you weren't. A straight answer from him/her will be very usefull in explaining why you haven't developed skills abroad.

I know at my husband's work, new people are sent with experienced people to kind of teach them how to work the job.

Very interesting, what you describe, find out more from your boss, or else go higher, the human resources loves firing people for discrimination like maybe you are experiencing.....

Seems to me you've answered your own question.

Think about it :)

Go home, get a refund or have that talk...... Maybe you havent made your desires known....
