I have lived abroad for 6 years what do i need from the inland revenue to get a job? I lived abroad for 4 years and on my return to the UK the only thing required by my new employer was my NI number. Although I hadn't recorded the number anywhere, I still carried the NI card issued years ago (plastic, like a credit card). For more information regarding National Insurance numbers and how to apply for a replacement card, if required, go to the site below. uh... nothing? all you need is your NI number :) Just your National Insurance number, your new Employer will sort the rest out....just tell the employer that you have been abroad and not paid tax for six years...thats if you are under the PAYE scheme, which most tax payers are. You should send a P86 into the tax office which will be dealing with the PAYE for your new UK employer. This will allow HMRC to operate the correct tax code as soon as possible. You will prob be on BR (emergency tax) to start with but this should change to include the personal allowance once the P86 is dealt with. Your employer will ask you to fill in a P46 so the tax office can register your details, so ask them to send the P46 & P86 together. You can get the P86 from: |
